Do you want to build your theatre skills on and off-stage? Choose between our Performance or Technical Theatre Track to customize your experience and get the most out of your time at camp! Students will participate in master classes with local professionals in musical theatre performance, dance, improvisation, character development, stage combat, stage makeup, lighting, and more depending on the track they choose! Camp is open to rising 8th-12th graders and will culminate in a showcase featuring many of the skills they have worked on throughout the week. While the performance track students will be on stage, technical students will help with costumes, lighting, and backstage responsibilities! We can’t wait to work with you!

Join us for an exciting week of choral singing, music reading workshops, songwriting, master classes, and fun-filled activities at MidAmerica Nazarene University! This engaging day camp is perfect for young singers looking to develop their musical skills while making lifelong friends. The camp is divided into two age groups: rising 3rd–6th graders and rising 7th–12th graders. Dr. Christopher Smith will lead the 7th–12th grade mixed choir, while Kerri Shiflett will direct the children’s choir. Camp runs Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, concluding with a final showcase concert at 4:00 PM on Friday. Lunch and snacks are provided. In addition to his Student Emmy nomination, Aaron Bohn has earned numerous awards and honors for his podcasts, films, and scripts on 3 continents, including the Nashville Film Festival, the Austin Film Festival, the KOKA Russian Comedy Film Festival, and the Film Festival of Melbourne, Australia. A playfully imaginative comedy writer and director with master’s degrees in Storytelling and Screenwriting, he currently builds up the next generation of media storytellers as a university professor and entertains audiences with his stand-up and improv comedy across the country.
Heather Tinker currently serves as the Adjunct Director of Theatre at MidAmerica Nazarene University. She has been teaching and directing at MNU since 2007. Heather has taught and directed at Benedictine College, Kansas City Young Audiences, Christian Youth Theatre, and The Culture House. Prior to teaching, Heather travelled and performed with the Lillenas Dramatic Company for ten years as well as performing in Kansas City area community theatres. She has also done voice work and short films recently appearing in several films including the award winning 48 Hour Film Festival Fan Favorite, Ride Now, directed by a former student. Heather completed her Bachelor’s degree in Communication and Public Relations with a minor in Theatre at MidAmerica Nazarene University in 1998 and a Master of Arts degree in Theatre from the University of Kansas in 2012 where she received the Ambrose Saricks Family Scholarship for work in community or educational theatre. She recently appeared as Nan in Rabbit Hole with Smet Theatrics.
Dr. Smith is Director of Choral Activities and Worship Arts at MidAmerica Nazarene University. His students and singers describe his teaching as innovative, inspiring, energetic, fun, and disciplined yet laid back. He brings creative and unconventional methods to each rehearsal, challenging musicians to develop their individual voice, developing the choral sound in a holistic way. Christopher is passionate about fostering a family atmosphere in the classroom and rehearsals, believing that when singers trust one another, they will perform more effectively together.
